In yet another remarkable achievement, the Northeastern states of Tripura has bagged the National Water Award (NWA) as the best district in the North East region of the country.
President of India Droupadi Murmu has presented the 5th National Water Award in a function at New Delhi on Tuesday. The District Magistrate Dr Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal has received the award.
The NWAs recognize the efforts of individuals and organizations across the country to achieve the government's vision of a "Jal Samridh Bharat". The awards are presented in nine categories, including Best State, Best District, Best Village Panchayat, Best Urban Local Body, Best Water User Association, and Best Civil Society.
Presenting the awards, the President said that a clean and prosperous society cannot be built without ensuring access to clean water.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Tuesday took to his social media handle and stated, “The award has been given for constructing recharge structures, geo-tagging water bodies, and planting over 41 lakh bamboo trees.”
“I wholeheartedly congratulate the people of Dhalai district, administration & all concerned for this achievement,” he further stated.
