Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Thursday inaugurated a daylong workshop on State Level People’s Plan Campaign here at Agartala Gram Swaraj Bhavan of Panchayatraj Training Institute and asked the panchayat representatives to work efficiently with transparency to boost the developmental progress of the state.
The Chief Minister said that annual plans are prepared at the panchayat level through the People's Plan campaign every year. Its objective is to prepare development plans for the next financial year through the total participation of the people, he added.
“Our country is determined to achieve sustainable development targets in 17 areas adopted by the United Nations by 2030. As a part of this, plans are being prepared at the level of each gram panchayat and village committee of the state keeping in mind the 9 themes of Localization of Sustainable Development Goals, so that the 9 theme goals can be achieved by 2030,” he said, adding that each Panchayat needs to make a resolution keeping in mind any one of these 9 themes.
The Chief Minister said on the occasion that various developmental projects of the Central and State Governments are being implemented through 3-tier Panchayats. He said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, India will rise if the village rises. Present-day India is on the verge of transformation. Special emphasis should be given to the transformation of rural development by following this vision of the Prime Minister.”
The Chief Minister said that in preparing the annual plan of the panchayat, it is necessary to plan keeping in mind all the flagship projects which are running in the rural areas including the projects of the central and state government departments. It is also very important to prepare the work list through the village council and complete the annual final plan by approving the same, he added.
