Tamil Nadu: ICG Rescues 6 Fishermen, 4 Workers Stranded in Jetty

The Indian Coast Guard conducted a Rescue Operation in response to an evacuation request from State Authorities of Tamil Nadu.  Six fishermen from Cuddalore had ventured to sea in private boats and they were stranded due to rough weather. The boats were also damaged and subsequently sank. 

In addition to the fishermen, four workers of the factory were also stranded and in desperate need of evacuation. With nil road access to the jetty coupled with increasing deterioration of weather due to ongoing cyclonic activity, the state authorities requested ICG for the rescue.

Swiftly responding to the state’s request a rescue operation, with an Advanced Light Helicopter was immediately launched from ICG Air Station Chennai. Despite adverse weather conditions, the Coast Guard conducted the successful operation and all 10 precious lives were safely evacuated to Chithiraipettai.
