Along with the rest of the nation, Tripura on Sunday celebrated the 76th Republic Day with a patriotic fervour. The main function was held here at Agartala Assam Rifles’ ground, where the Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu unfurled the tri-color and claimed that the state of Tripura has been progressing on all fronts from infrastructure to health, education and welfare of all sections of people.
Addressing the gathering from Assam Rifles’ Ground on Sunday, the Governor expressed his concern over the illegal migration from Bangladesh and urged to boycott the people, who are supporting the illegal migration.
In his speech the Governor said that Tripura achieved major success in tackling and ending insurgencies. He said, “Successful resolution of insurgency issues” in the state played a significant role in achieving peace.”
“The Memorandum of Settlement signed on September 5 last year with the banned insurgent groups National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and the All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) contributed to the disbandment of these outfits,” he added.
He said, "A historic accord was signed involving the Centre, state and the Tipra Motha Party in March last year to address the issues of the indigenous people. This will ensure the development of the indigenous people.”
Nallu also lauded the government’s initiative to unveil the state’s emblem. The governor also highlighted the state’s drive for infrastructure development to pave the way for industrialisation and investment.
"The Centre has sanctioned Rs 2,800 crore for building key roads to speed up infrastructure development. Besides, 65 projects amounting to Rs 58.01 core are in progress under the Smart City Mission," he said, adding that the state government has inked a Memorandum of Understanding with Tata Technology to modernise 19 ITIs at a cost of Rs 683.27 crore.
Reddy said Tripura has made significant strides in developing its grassroots education system by adding 27 new schools under the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) initiative for the current academic year.
