CM Yogi Adityanath said that only 23 wetlands sites were identified in 65 years after the independence of the country but in the last 10 years, 63 new sites have been identified for this within the country. CM Yogi said this while inaugurating the programme on ‘Conservation of Wetlands for the Future of All of Us’ at Parvati Arga Bird Sanctuary, Gonda on the occasion of World Wetlands Day today. Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Kirti Vardhan Singh was also present at the event.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Yogi said that towards preserving the environment, the government has planted 2.10 crore saplings in 8 years, out of which 70% of the plants are safe. This initiative will not only accelerate the development of Gonda, but will also strengthen environmental protection, tourism and local economy. He said that our earth is like a mother, because lakes play an important role in maintaining the balance of the ecosystem here.
