Tripura to soon have first Integrated Aqua Park in Unakoti district; Union Minister of Fisheries to lay foundation stone soon

Union Minister of Fisheries will lay the foundation stone of Integrated Aqua Park at Satero Miyan Haur (lake) in Kailashahar subdivision in Unakoti district of the state within the next few days, said state fishery minster Sudhangshu Das on Monday.

The Minister on Monday chaired a meeting with the officials of his department in presence of the MLA of Kailasahar Tinku Roy and DM of Unakoti district of the state D K Chakma at BC Nagar Gram Panchayat.

Tripura government has decided to establish an integrated aqua park with Rs 100 crore investment in Unakoti district to bridge the existing annual gap of fish demand and supply of around 32 MT.

Minister Sudhangshu Das said that the integrated aqua park will make the Unakoti district of the state self-sufficient in fish production and generate mass employment.

Meanwhile, the MLA of Kailasahar subdivision and also the state sports and youth affairs minister Tinku Roy on Monday visited the site of the proposed aqua park and said that the initiative of the government will open the doors of new possibilities not only in terms of economic prosperity but also in terms of employment generation.

The state had submitted a Rs 100 Cr proposal to the central government, which has already been sanctioned, and the ministry has disbursed the first installment of Rs 43 Cr. The aqua park is expected to produce 2.5 MT of fish annually, reducing the state's dependence on fish imports from West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, and Bangladesh.
