At a grand ceremony held on Friday at Tripura Santiniketan Medical College, this remarkable recognition was formally conferred. Sanjay Bhola Dhir, famous Mask artist of the country and representative from the Asia Book of Records, presented the honour to the college authorities in the presence of the Deputy Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly and MLA, Ramprasad Paul.

Also present at the event were several distinguished guests, including former Director of Health Services Dr. Satya Ranjan Debbarma, veteran journalist and editor of Syandan Patrika Subal Dey, editor Nabyendu Bhattacharya, vice-president  of Tripura Santiniketan Medical College Sougata Pit and many others.

This achievement is being hailed as a major milestone for the college, its students, and the entire health education sector of Tripura.

According to the Asia Book of Records, Tripura Santiniketan Medical College has set a new record by enrolling the highest number of students from across the country in its inaugural academic session. Representative Sanjay Bhola Dhir stated that such an occurrence is unprecedented among 48 Asian countries. For the 2024–25 academic session, the college admitted students from 21 different Indian states a feat unmatched by any other newly established medical college in Asia.

The college, which began its first academic session in 2024, was founded with the goal of providing world-class medical education to students in the state. In its very first year, it attracted an impressive number of students from across India, something rarely seen in other newly established institutions.

A closer look at the student list reveals representation from nearly every corner of India. While Tripura contributed the highest number of students (47), the college also admitted students from West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Kerala, Maharashtra, Nagaland, Delhi, Odisha, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Uttarakhand.
