Tripura Celebrates International Chess Day

The All Tripura Chess Association (ATCA) marked International Chess Day 2025 with a vibrant celebration, hosting the Tripura State Selection FIDE Rating Blitz Chess Tournament at the Chess Hall, NSRCC, on Sunday. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from players across the state, competing in the fast-paced blitz format to secure FIDE ratings and showcase their skills.

The tournament was part of ATCA’s broader mission to promote chess as both a competitive sport and an educational tool in Tripura. It provided a platform for players of all ages to engage in high-level competition and gain valuable tournament experience.

A major highlight of the day was the official launch of ATCA’s new website — www.tripurachess.org — by ATCA President Abhijit Moulick. The website aims to serve as a centralized hub for the state’s chess community, offering updates on tournament schedules, rating lists, training resources, and news about chess activities across Tripura.

In his address, Moulick emphasized the importance of digital platforms in strengthening the local chess ecosystem. “The new website is designed to make information more accessible to players, coaches, and enthusiasts. It’s a step towards modernizing how we connect and grow as a community,” he said. He also reaffirmed the association’s commitment to organizing more FIDE-rated events in the near future to provide increased opportunities for local talent.

The successful organization of the tournament and the launch of the new digital platform reflect the growing interest in chess within the state. ATCA’s continued efforts aim to nurture young talent and build a robust foundation for chess development through structured competitions and modern initiatives.
