Rajib Bhattacharjee Participates in DoNER Consultative Committee Meeting on North Eastern Region Development

Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Rajib Bhattacharjee took part in the Consultative Committee meeting of the Ministry for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) held on Thursday at the Parliament House Annexe, New Delhi. The meeting was chaired by Union Minister for DoNER, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia.

The main agenda of the meeting was the utilization of 10% of the Gross Budgetary Support (GBS) dedicated to the development of the North Eastern Region (NER). This fund plays a crucial role in driving focused development across the northeastern states of India.

During the session, committee members discussed strategies for the effective deployment of resources aimed at improving infrastructure, enhancing connectivity, advancing social welfare programs, and promoting economic empowerment in the region. Rajib Bhattacharjee emphasized the importance of efficient fund allocation, timely execution of projects, and improved coordination between the Central and state governments.

He also highlighted the need to ensure that benefits from central schemes and budgetary provisions reach the grassroots level to foster inclusive and sustainable development throughout the North East.

Union Minister Scindia reiterated the government’s strong commitment to the progress of the region. He shared updates on recent initiatives aimed at streamlining funding processes and improving the monitoring of project outcomes.
