Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday called for a united and coordinated approach to promote cricket in the state. Speaking at a felicitation ceremony organized by the Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) in Agartala, Dr. Saha emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in nurturing the sport from the grassroots level.
The event, held at a private hotel in the city, celebrated the induction of new life members into the TCA and also served as the annual reunion for existing members. A host of cricketers, sports enthusiasts, and officials from the cricketing fraternity attended the ceremony.
“Cricket is one of the most cherished sports in India, and its popularity in Tripura is growing steadily,” Dr. Saha said. “It is encouraging to see the TCA’s dedicated efforts to promote the sport at various levels.”
Highlighting the role of early talent identification and structured development, the Chief Minister stressed the need for collaboration between government agencies, sports organizations, and local communities. “With a shared vision and joint effort, we can take Tripura’s cricket to greater heights,” he added.
Dr. Saha, also underlined the significance of building strong sports infrastructure and cultivating a vibrant sporting culture in the state. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote youth engagement through sports.
