PM Modi to Inaugurate Bairabi-Sairang Railway Line in Mizoram on September 13

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the much-anticipated Bairabi-Sairang railway line in Mizoram on September 13, marking a major milestone in the state’s connectivity and infrastructure development. The announcement was made by Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma during a conference of the Mizoram Police Service Association (MPSA) held in Aizawl on Friday.

According to the Chief Minister, the Prime Minister is scheduled to arrive in the state capital on September 12 and will formally inaugurate the new railway line the following day.

The 51.38-kilometre-long Bairabi-Sairang railway line is a significant project under the Central Government’s Act East Policy, which aims to boost connectivity, trade, and economic integration in the northeastern region of India. With the commissioning of this line, Aizawl will effectively be connected to the national railway network for the first time, as Sairang is located just outside the capital city.

CM Lalduhoma also revealed that he had a discussion with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw regarding the Prime Minister’s visit and the future development of railway infrastructure in the state. He confirmed that the Sairang railway station will be upgraded to a world-class facility and will operate Rajdhani Express services, offering high-speed connectivity to major cities across the country.
