EAM Jaishankar Condoles Earthquake Loss in Afghanistan, Pledges Continued Humanitarian Support

External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives and destruction caused by the recent earthquake in Afghanistan’s Balkh, Samangan, and Baghlan provinces.

In a social media post on Monday, Dr. Jaishankar said he had spoken with Afghan Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi to convey India’s condolences and solidarity with the people of Afghanistan. He assured that Indian relief materials for the affected communities were being handed over today, while additional consignments of medicines will be dispatched soon to support ongoing relief efforts.

During the conversation, the two leaders also reviewed bilateral relations between India and Afghanistan. Dr. Jaishankar welcomed the strengthening of people-to-people ties and appreciated the exchange of views on regional developments.
