Campaigning for the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections concluded this evening, marking the end of intense political activity across the state. Voting for this phase will be held on November 6 in 121 constituencies spread over 18 districts.
More than 3.75 crore voters will decide the fate of 1,314 candidates contesting in this phase. The constituencies include key districts such as Patna, Darbhanga, Madhepura, Saharsa, Muzaffarpur, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Vaishali, Samastipur, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, Munger, Sheikhpura, Nalanda, Buxar, and Bhojpur.
On the final day of campaigning, senior leaders and star campaigners from both the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Mahagathbandhan made a last-ditch effort to woo voters through public rallies, roadshows, and door-to-door campaigns.
The Election Commission has made extensive security arrangements to ensure smooth and peaceful polling. For the first time, one General Observer will be deployed in each constituency, while webcasting will be carried out at all polling stations to closely monitor the voting process.
District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police have been directed to maintain strict law and order and adopt a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of violence. Adequate Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) have also been deployed to ensure voter safety and the integrity of the electoral process.
In the second phase, 122 constituencies across 20 districts will go to polls on November 11, while the counting of votes for all phases will take place on November 14. The Election Commission has announced that a total of 90,712 polling booths will be set up to accommodate over 7.43 crore voters across Bihar.
