Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Silver Jubilee celebrations marking 25 years of Uttarakhand’s formation in Dehradun on Sunday. During the event, he inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for various development projects worth over Rs 8,140 crore, covering key sectors such as drinking water, irrigation, technical education, energy, urban development, sports, and skill development.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), the Prime Minister also transferred financial assistance of over Rs 62 crore directly into the bank accounts of more than 28,000 farmers.
Addressing the gathering, PM Modi said November 9th represents the perseverance and long struggle of the people of Uttarakhand. He emphasized that the double-engine government is committed to taking the state to new heights of development.
Highlighting the state’s potential, the Prime Minister noted that Uttarakhand’s local products are aligning with the ‘Vocal for Local’ campaign, with 15 agricultural products receiving Geographical Indication (GI) tags. He also pointed out that the state is rapidly emerging as a film and wedding destination, with the new film policy facilitating shooting in the region.
