NCB–CRPF Bust Drug Syndicate, Seize 5.9 kg Meth

In a major crackdown on cross-border narcotics trafficking, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have seized 5.9 kilograms of methamphetamine near Aizawl and arrested eight members of a transnational drug syndicate.

Among those arrested is Jabrul Hoque, a resident of Karimganj, Assam, identified as the kingpin of the network. Hoque is a habitual drug trafficker with three previous cases registered against him, including one at Dharmanagar Police Station in Tripura, for which he was currently out on bail.

According to investigators, the methamphetamine was smuggled across the Indo-Myanmar border near Champhai and was being transported to Sonamura in Tripura for further trafficking into Bangladesh.

To improve coordination with state agencies and enhance operational capability in the region, the NCB has recently expanded its infrastructure. A new regional office has been set up in Guwahati, along with zonal units in Itanagar, Siliguri, and Agartala. Field offices in Aizawl and Dimapur have also been established and made fully functional.
