Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw flagged off a new passenger train connecting Sairang in Mizoram with Silchar in Assam, aiming to strengthen rail connectivity in the Northeast. The train will operate five days a week, providing a convenient travel option for passengers between the two states.
According to the schedule, the train will depart Silchar at 1 PM on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, reaching Sairang by 6:30 PM. In the reverse direction, it will leave Sairang at 7 AM on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, arriving at Silchar around 12:30 PM.
During the inauguration, Minister Vaishnaw also launched the Blended Hospitality Service at Guwahati Railway Station, aimed at improving passenger amenities.
Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma lauded the region’s infrastructure development, noting that the Act East Policy under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accelerated progress across sectors. He emphasized that all states are being included in the journey toward a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India).
