PM Modi Receives Warm Welcome in Gangtok Roadshow Ahead of Sikkim Statehood Celebrations

Prime Minister Narendra Modi received an enthusiastic welcome during a roadshow in Gangtok on  Monday, as thousands of people lined the streets to greet him on his visit to Sikkim.

Accompanied by Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang and state BJP President DR Thapa, the Prime Minister travelled through a large public gathering stretching from Ganju Dwar to Lok Bhawan. People dressed in traditional attire turned out in large numbers to catch a glimpse of the Prime Minister, who acknowledged the crowd with folded hands.

Earlier in the day, he was received at Libing helipad by the Governor, Chief Minister, Speaker of the State Assembly, and senior ministers.

During his two-day visit, PM Modi will attend the closing ceremony of Sikkim’s 50th Statehood anniversary celebrations at Paljor Stadium. He is also set to inaugurate, launch, and lay the foundation stone for development projects worth over ₹4,000 crore across key sectors including infrastructure, healthcare, education, power, urban development, tourism, agriculture, and the environment.
