Houses Set Ablaze in Imphal West, Fresh Tension Grips Manipur
Fresh tension erupted in Manipur’s Imphal West district on Saturday after several abandoned houses belonging to members of the Meitei community were allegedly set on fire in the Kanto Sabal area.
The incident triggered unrest in the area, with nearly 600 men and women gathering and attempting to move towards the affected locality, according to a senior police official.
Security forces were deployed in large numbers to prevent the situation from escalating and to maintain law and order. Authorities are monitoring the area closely as concerns remain over a possible flare-up of violence amid ongoing tensions in the state.
