Mizoram Police seize drugs worth Rs 350 Crore

In one of the biggest drug seizures in Mizoram’s history, police have confiscated a huge consignment of narcotics valued at approximately ₹350 crore. The operation, conducted on August 1, led to the arrest of one individual and the recovery of large quantities of crystal methamphetamine and heroin.

The joint operation was carried out by personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department (Special Branch) and the Special Narcotic Police Station, acting on specific intelligence inputs. Authorities intercepted a pickup truck transporting Mithun cattle on a stretch between Zemabawk and Seling, on the outskirts of Aizawl.

During a detailed search of the vehicle, officers discovered a hidden compartment concealing 20.304 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine—commonly known as “ice”—with an estimated value of Rs 300 crore. Additionally, 1.652 kilograms of heroin packed in 128 soap cases were recovered, valued at approximately Rs 49.56 lakh.

Police have taken the driver of the vehicle into custody and launched an investigation to uncover the broader drug trafficking network involved.
