The Public Investment Board (PIB) has approved ₹26,069.50 crore for the 1720 MW Kamala Hydroelectric Project in Arunachal Pradesh. Chief Minister Pema Khandu hailed the approval as a landmark moment for the state and the nation, highlighting the project’s role in India’s energy transition and progress toward the Net Zero 2070 goal. The green, storage-based project is also expected to aid in flood moderation in the Brahmaputra basin, while boosting regional development and economic growth.
