Manipur CM Prioritizes Bridging Trust Between Communities Amid IDP Crisis

Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh has declared that removing the trust deficit between the state’s warring communities is his government’s top priority.

Addressing internally displaced persons (IDPs) at the Alternate Housing Complex, National Game Village, Langol – Imphal West, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of restoring relationships to ensure successful rehabilitation. IDPs from other districts joined the interaction via video conferencing.

IDPs from Churachandpur raised concerns about education and healthcare. CM Khemchand assured full security for members of the Kuki‑Zo community traveling to Imphal for treatment and highlighted efforts to prevent disruption in schooling for over 8,000 displaced students.

The Chief Minister also urged civil society organizations from both the hills and valleys to work toward peace, mutual respect, and unity. As part of the relief measures, he announced ₹33 crore in aid for IDPs via direct benefit transfer (DBT), with district administrations in Thoubal, Bishnupur, Jiribam, and Kangpokpi participating via video link.
