Indian Orchid Festival 2026 Concludes in Sikkim

The Indian Orchid Festival 2026, themed “Orchids for Beauty & Prosperity”, organised by the ICAR-NRCO, concluded on Tuesday in Pakyong district, Sikkim.

The four-day festival saw participation from orchid growers, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders from across the country. Renowned nurseries, tissue culture companies, and marketing firms engaged with growers to share expertise, explore collaborations, and discuss advances in orchid cultivation and trade.

Puran Gurung, Minister for Agriculture and Horticulture, graced the occasion as the chief guest. He expressed his pleasure at attending the second edition of the festival and promised to support similar events at the North East India level in collaboration with state governments.

Dr. SP Das, Director of ICAR-NRCO Pakyong, said technical experts shared practical knowledge to benefit growers, while the event also served as a platform for exchanging ideas on marketing and industry growth.

Highlighting the economic potential of floriculture and horticulture, Minister Gurung encouraged aspiring entrepreneurs to pursue agriculture professionally, citing crops like Red Chelli, avocado, and ginger as opportunities to meet national and international demand.
