India–Indonesia Strengthen Strategic Partnership at Joint Commission Meeting in New Delhi
The India–Indonesia Joint Commission Meeting was held in New Delhi on Sunday after a gap of four years, marking renewed momentum in bilateral engagement. The meeting was co-chaired by India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Indonesia’s Foreign Minister Sugiono.
In his remarks, Jaishankar noted that the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries has witnessed strong growth in recent years. He emphasized that significant progress has been made in bilateral relations since the last session of the Joint Commission.
The two sides held wide-ranging discussions covering political cooperation, defence and maritime security, trade and investment, fintech, health, pharmaceuticals, fertilisers, critical minerals, tourism, education, and cultural exchanges. Both ministers also exchanged views on regional and global developments and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening coordination in multilateral forums, including deeper engagement with ASEAN.
India and Indonesia also highlighted the celebration of 75 years of diplomatic relations last year, underscoring the long-standing historical ties between the two nations.
