Flash floods and landslides triggered by torrential rains have caused widespread devastation across several districts of Nagaland, claiming at least nine lives in Mon district.
The victims died after houses were washed away by flash floods and landslides. Rescue and search operations are underway as authorities assess the extent of the damage.
Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio expressed grief over the loss of lives and said the government is closely monitoring the situation. He announced an ex gratia assistance of ₹4 lakh for the next of kin of each deceased person and ₹74,000 for each injured person.
