Re-polling in Muallungthu Polling Station in Aizawl South-3 constituency ends peacefully

In Mizoram, re-polling in Muallungthu Polling Station in Aizawl South- 3 constituency on Friday ended peacefully. A total of 87.08 percent voters exercised their franchise in the re-poll.

 Re-poll was necessitated due to the mixing up of the ‘mock’ polls votes with the actual votes cast on the polling day.

 There are 1084 voters in this Polling Station including 548 female voters.

 Aizawl South - 3 constituency is witnessing four-corner contest in this election. While the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) is trying to retain the seat with the sitting MLA Prof F Lalnunmawia, the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) is fielding Baryl Vanneihsangi, who is the current Corporator of Aizawl Municipal Corporation. The Congress is represented by three times Corporator of Aizawl Municipal Corporation Rosiamngheta while Reverend Dr Zaichhawna Hlawndo is trying his electoral luck as Independent candidate.

 The state Election Department thanked the voters of Muallungthu Polling Station for participating in the re-poll in record numbers.

 Mizoram went to polls in a single phase on November 7 to elect 40 members of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly with a polling percentage of more than 80 percent.
