Two days after the devastating fire broke out at Battala market – one of the busiest markets of capital Agartala, the leader of opposition Animesh Debbarma on Tuesday demanded a rehabilitation package for the affected shopkeepers.
“I will write to the Chief Minister to press for my demand for a rehabilitation package for the affected shopkeepers,” he told reporters during the visit.
He said that the market which is one of the busiest markets of the state capital has been reduced to ashes to affect a large number of shopkeepers. the state government must hold an immediate discussion session in presence of the opposition political parties as well to chalk out plans in order to scientifically rebuild the market, he said.
The leader of opposition further said that the power department must be more cautious and should conduct inspections of the connections on a frequent basis so as to avoid any untoward incident.
