Union HM Amit Shah visits Brus in Tripura’s Dhalai district; accuses CPI(M), Congress of ignoring Brus for a decade in Tripura

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of development projects worth Rs 668 crore, initiated by the Tripura government in Dhalai and also visited the village of settled Reang refugees.

Addressing the programme at Haduklai Para in Dhalai district of the state, the Union Home Minister claimed that the Modi govt settled 38,000 Bru Reang people who were living in deplorable conditions for 25 years.

“The Congress & Communist governments that ruled Tripura for a long time, never saw the pains of the Bru Reang people. Modi Ji saw the pains of these people, understood them, and worked to resolve them,” Shah said.

He said, “The people of the Bru-Rang community were living in very adverse conditions. They did not have water, electricity and toilet facilities.”

“Importance has been given to the socio-economic upliftment of the Bru-Reang refugees and the development of the infrastructure of the resettlement area,” Shah said, adding that access to education, health, drinking water and electricity services were made available for the Brus in Tripura after their settlement.

The Union Home and Cooperative Minister Amit Shah inaugurated 6 new projects virtually in Haduklai Para of Ambassa in Dhalai District. The 6 new projects are- Senior Basic School, Health and Wellness Center, 19 Market shed, new building of Birashimail Primary Health Center of Dhalai district, Health and Wellness Center at Ultachara, waste treatment plant under the Smart City project at Akhaura Road, Agartala.

Moreover, Shah on Sunday also laid the foundation stone of 7 projects virtually including Central Detective Training Institute at Agartala, new office building of Ambassa SDM, sub-divisional hospital at Gondatuisa, railway overbridges with approach road at Jirania, Construction of road from Debendra Chowdhury Para (Belchara) to Chankhla under Padmabil RD block in Khowai, construction of waste treatment plants in 11 towns and improvement of 16 kms main road at Agartala.
