World Veterinary Day 2025 observed in Tripura

A programme was jointly organized by Tripura Veterinary Council and the Tripura Veterinary Doctors Association to observe World Veterinary Day 2025 on Saturday at Dasharath Deb Memorial Auditorium. The state animal resource development department (ARDD) minister Sudhangshu Das and others were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, animal resource development department (ARDD) minister Sudhangshu Das said World Veterinary Day is observed every year on the last Saturday of April across the globe to commemorate the multifaceted services provided by veterinarians and scientists for animal health and welfare. Veterinary Day highlights their tireless efforts in the field of veterinary science. Veterinarians play a crucial role in protecting livestock, he added.

The minister also praised the commendable jobs done by the veterinarians for looking after those animals in the society which have no way of disclosing their problems as human beings can. The veterinary doctors are considered as best doctors in the society. By providing timely medical care to animals, veterinarians helped protect animal health and played a vital role in the prevention of zoonotic diseases such as bird flu and rabies that could be transmitted from animals to humans. They also helped raise awareness among livestock owners about seasonal animal diseases, administered preventive vaccines and deworming medications, thereby reducing animal mortality and ensuring food security for people, he added.
