The state transport minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Thursday attended a programme organised as part of the TB-Mukt Bharat Campaign and called for a collective effort in making TB-Mukt Bharat buy 2025.
Addressing the gathering in the programme, the minister said that once this disease caused panic among people and in many cases the patient died. But today, due to the advancement of medical science, this disease has become completely curable, he added.
At the center of this campaign is an extraordinary and humanitarian initiative Nikshay Mitra. Nikshay Mitra is an individual or organization that adopts TB patients and supports them throughout their treatment and recovery. As part of this initiative, the minister himself came forward as Nikshaya Mitra and announced that he will provide nutritious food to all TB patients in Majlishpur every month and will continue till they recover completely.
The minister later distributed food basket containing nutritional materials to the families of people suffering from TB disease in the area.
