Three days after the violence and arson attack in the Ganda Twisa subdivision in Tripura's Dhalai district, the District Magistrate Saju Vaheed A on Monday said that the situation is brought fully under control, the DM said that adequate security forces are still deployed in the subdivision to restrict further untoward incidents.
Talking to our correspondent on Monday evening, the DM said, “We initiated the process of reopening shops in Gandacherra from today evening after holding a meeting with the bazar committee and other stakeholders.”
“Police forces are still camping in the vulnerable locations of the subdivision so that no further untoward incident takes place in the subdivision,” DM said, adding that the situation is brought under control.
He also informed that the district administration along with the senior officials of police spoke with local businessmen and assured them of their full support, urging traders to reopen the market, which had been shut for the past two days. A peace meeting was also held on Sunday last to instill confidence among the locals of Gandacherra subdivision.
Meanwhile, the DM said, “As per the preliminary report around 70-80 houses including shops in the market were partially and fully damaged in the violence. Government has initiated the process of paying compensation to the affected families.”
