Tripura witnessed minimal development in 75 years, but recorded highest voter turnout: Pradyot slams CPI(M)

The founder of BJP’s alliance partner TIPRA Motha Pradyot Kishore Deb Burman on Wednesday targeted the CPI(M) in Tripura and said that the former government had failed to address the issues of tribals in the state.

Addressing a press conference here at Agartala, Pradyot said, “The tribal dominated areas in Tripura were neglected at large, as the Communist rule in Tripura was only focused on the capital town of Agartala. The problem of the tribals is not just a problem of five or twenty-five years but of the last 75 years.”

“Tripura, which witnessed highest voter turnout during the last 75 years had very minimal development, where tribals were deprived at large,” Pradyot told reporters.

On Congress-CPI(M) alliance, Pradyot said, “The Congress which was under attack during the Left rule is now voting for the Communist party. In democratic system of a country, the role of opposition is always termed as crucial and hence Congress needs to stand alone and act independently to regain its strength.”

“My fight is against CPI(M), and in the East parliamentary constituency election, the vote will be anti-CPI(M),” he said and believed that people of East parliamentary constituency would vote against CPI(M) as people had experienced long-term communist rule in Tripura.
